Thomas Orr

Vice President, Business Development, Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC)

Thomas Orr has over 39 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry, with 15 years spent on projects in the Middle East.  He is currently Vice President, Business Development at Consolidated Construction Company (CCC), one of the largest construction companies in the world.  His work includes working with US based engineering and oil companies on international projects that are of interest to CCC.

Previously, Thom spend over six years with Jacobs Engineering as Vice President of Business Development.  After a four-year assignment in the Middle East, Thom relocated to his home town of Houston, Texas.  His work continued with Jacobs Engineering, working on a portfolio assignment that includes several key clients in the hydrocarbon industry.

Thom has held leadership positions for some of the world’s leading engineering companies in the industry, including Brown & Root, Fluor, CBI, McDermott and Jacobs.  He spent almost half of his working life on international assignments, including assignments in Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Bahrain.  For the past twenty-four years he has been working in business development.  Before that time, he worked as a Project Controls professional.

Thom grew up in Houston, Texas, receiving a BBA in Marketing and Economics from Texas State University in 1980 and completing the Executive Development Program at the Wharton School of Business in 2008.  For several years he also worked part-time at the University of Houston, teaching a class to Construction Management student.  He remains a member of the University Industry Advisory Board to the Department of Technology.  He is an experienced public speaker and has frequently delivered presentations at industry conferences.
