5th Energy Tech & Infrastructure Forum 2022 Distinguished Speakers Include

Ms. Hilde Skorpen took up her position as Consul General of Norway in Houston on September 2, 2019.  Prior to her current posting, Dr. Skorpen served as Director of the Section for Business Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Oslo. She held the position of Consul General in San Francisco from 2013 to 2017, serving the thirteen western most states.  She has also served as Ambassador for Disarmament and Deputy Head of the Norwegian Mission to the UN in Geneva, and has been posted to the Norwegian mission to NATO in Brussels, and the Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  She served as the Foreign Ministry’s Senior Faculty Advisor to the Norwegian National Defense College in Oslo from 2011 to 2013.  Ms. Skorpen earned a Ph.D. in Political Science and International Relations at Boston University in 1993. Ms. Skorpen is accompanied by her husband Colonel Ole Stubben (ret.).

The vibrant Houston Region is home to approximately 6000 Norwegians, which constitutes the largest contingency of Norwegians anywhere outside of Norway.  Most Norwegians working in Texas are involved in the offshore and onshore oil and gas sector, the maritime sector, innovation and technology, financial services, space and medical sectors, as well as higher education, research and development.

One of the primary objectives of the Consulate General in Houston is to assist Norwegian companies in their business endeavors, together with their Team Norway partners located at Norway House in Houston – Innovation Norway, NORWEP and the Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce.

The Consulate General offers consular services to all Norwegian citizens in the consular district spanning Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Island. “To facilitate and help develop good synergies between businesses, agencies and individuals represented in the consular district is a key to our success.
