Johannes P. Willheim is a Partner of Jones Day’s Global Disputes and Energy Practice Groups. His practice focuses on representing energy companies active at all levels of the value chain in international arbitration proceedings. Johannes has handled a great variety of disputes for energy clients, such as engineering and construction disputes arising under infrastructure projects and commercial disputes arising under energy supply agreements. Most prominently, Johannes has been working on the majority of the most important gas price arbitrations in Europe for one of the world's leading producers of natural gas. In addition to his disputes work, Johannes has worked at the forefront of the liberalization of EU energy market advising energy companies active in Europe on regulatory, antitrust and commercial matters. To this day, Johannes assists clients in negotiating new or revising existing energy supply agreements of all sorts, including but not limited to long term supply agreements and shorter term EFET (European Federation of Energy Traders) Agreements. Johannes is also frequently appointed as an arbitrator, mediator, and independent expert in ICC, VIAC, and other institutional as well as ad hoc proceedings.
