Distinguished Speakers at Washington Energy Summit
< BACK TO LISTTravis Snyder
Travis Snyder is a veteran educator, Air National Guard veteran, and founder of Wind & Sky Apiaries, a pioneering agrivoltaic pollinator restoration company operating at the intersection of renewable energy and ecological impact. Travis has built Wind & Sky Apiaries around the conviction that working lands and energy infrastructure can do double duty — generating power while actively restoring the ecological systems that agriculture depends on. Through Wind & Sky Apiaries, he partners with large landholding companies and corporate ESG partners to integrate managed honeybee operations into utility-scale solar infrastructure and agricultural landscapes, creating measurable ecological benefit while supporting TNFD- and SBTi-aligned sustainability goals.
Travis is also the founder of Frontline Hives, a nonprofit organization that harnesses the structure, purpose, and healing power of beekeeping to serve veterans, first responders, and their communities. Drawing on his own experience as an 18-year veteran, including multiple worldwide deployments, and his deep expertise in apiculture, Travis built Frontline Hives around the belief that the hive — with its clear roles, collective mission, and demand for calm presence — offers a uniquely powerful environment for those who have served. The Department of Veterans Affairs has integrated beekeeping into its recreational therapy, with participants reporting meaningful reductions in PTSD symptoms and depression. The organization pairs hands-on beekeeping programming with a K–12 STEM curriculum framework, extending its reach from the apiary into the classroom. With the impact that Wind & Sky and Frontline Hives has already had, Travis has become a distinctive voice in the energy and conservation space — one who understands that building a sound energy future, restoring America’s honeybee populations, and honoring those who are serving/served are not separate missions, but one and the same.
