A fifth generation Montanan, Steve Daines brings 28 years of private-sector business experience to Washington, D.C., as he serves the people of Montana in the U.S. Senate.
Steve is a lifelong sportsman and grew up in Bozeman, Montana. After attending public schools in Bozeman, he graduated from Montana State University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He spent 13 years in a management role for Procter & Gamble, including six years based in China, and then returned to Bozeman to work in the family construction business before taking on the role of VP at RightNow Technologies, a Bozeman-based cloud computing start-up company. The company grew rapidly and became a publicly traded software company, and was acquired by Oracle.
In the U.S. Senate, Steve serves on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, where he works to expand domestic energy production, reduce bureaucratic red tape, and support American jobs. He also serves on the Senate Committees on Finance, Foreign Affairs, and Indian Affairs.
Steve has been married to Cindy for 39 years. They live in Bozeman and are the parents of four and grandparents to seven. Steve and his family enjoy backpacking, hunting, skiing, and fishing.
