Distinguished Speakers at Washington Energy Summit

Dr. Liang Chen is a deep-technology entrepreneur and founder of eJoule, a U.S.-based battery materials company advancing next-generation energy security and domestic manufacturing capabilities. Since founding eJoule in 2015, Dr. Chen has focused on strengthening critical materials supply chains through the development of a precursor-free manufacturing platform designed to significantly reduce the cost, environmental footprint, and production complexity of advanced battery materials, including single-crystal Lithium-Ion cathode active materials and solid-state electrolytes. Under his leadership, eJoule is building an agile manufacturing ecosystem designed to rapidly incorporate advances in materials chemistry, process technology, and production systems, integrating research and development in Fremont, California, with scalable manufacturing capabilities in Taiwan, and planned expansion across North America and strategic international partners.

A prolific innovator with more than 120 issued U.S. patents, Dr. Chen began his entrepreneurial journey at Cornell University, where his PhD research was successfully commercialized and licensed. Drawing on more than two decades of deep-technology leadership and semiconductor industry experience, Dr. Chen is helping shape a more self reliant and sustainable energy future through high-performance battery materials manufacturing and localized critical-materials production.
