Dr. Bruce J. Sumlin
CSS Energy Solutions LLC was founded by Dr. Bruce J. Sumlin to help hospitals, research centers, water treatment plants, schools, homes, and other critical infrastructures have access to reliable, sustainable sources of energy needed to serve their communities. Providing essential sources of energy (renewable and nonrenewable) is paramount for the creation of thriving and resilient communities throughout the world. Moreover, the transition of a society that uses more renewable energy sources and materials will ensure a cleaner environment and healthier individuals within their communities. Dr. Sumlin coordinates with his team of expert professionals in logistics, commodity trading, data security, military/security analytics and project management who implement procedures that ensure critical energy supplies are delivered in an eGicient and secure manner.
As a physician with over 25 years’ experience within the healthcare industry Dr. Sumlin experienced how critical business sectors integrated with the health care field to have a broad, profound impact on the lives of people. He is a cofounder of the Bambu Fund, LLC and served as the chairman and chief medical oGicer involved in scientific, technological health are investment strategy for the fund. He spearheaded the development of the International Medical Services credentialing portal for Bambu Health and Wellness. Dr. Sumlin is a former director of the Eye Care Services department within the Detroit Northwest Region of the Henry Ford Health System. There, he initiated and implemented best practice patterns and lead the ambulatory services team to strategically address community health needs while simultaneously achieving the financial benchmarks for Michigan’s second largest health care network. Later Dr. Sumlin became director of glaucoma service as well as the lead cataract and refractive surgeon for Moore Eye Institute in Philadelphia. While at Moore Eye, he was also a professor at Drexel University College of Medicine and Hahnemann University Hospital. He is known as one of the most experienced glaucoma and cataract surgeons in Delaware, having performed more than 15,000 surgeries as director of Halpern Ophthalmology Associates in Dover, Delaware for 8 years. Currently, Dr. Sumlin is also President of SB&B Wellness which provides medical equipment and essential supplies to hospitals (foreign and domestic) as well as to United States veterans living abroad.
A graduate of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Sumlin earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He completed an internship at Howard University in Washington, D.C. as well as an ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He has advanced fellowship training from the National Institute of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland and Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He is bilingual in English and Spanish. In his free time, Bruce enjoys boating, tennis, biking, football, basketball, traveling, music, and fine arts.
